Waterproofing Works at Light Academy Vocational School; Rakai

TETRABUILD Services Limited was subcontracted by Light Academy to undertake waterproofing works to a concrete retaining wall at Light Academy Vocational School, Rakai. A previous waterproofing approach using a fiber-based bituminous layer had previously been applied and failed.

Furthermore, the concrete works had several defective elements that permitted the ingress of water into the basement rooms. The defects like honeycombs, exposed rebars, and cracks were repaired using Xypex Concentrate and Admix.

The waterproofing works were undertaken using two layers of 4mm EPDM APP Torch On membrane primed with insuguard bituminous coating. The first layer was of a smooth membrane and a second layer was applied in the cross direction of the mineral membrane.

We are currently monitoring the performance of this repair solution.
