TETRABUILD Services Limited was contracted to undertake waterproofing works to Jajja’s House situated on Jajja’s compound at Ndere Cultural Centre having mostly circular and dome-shaped walls and roof structures.
The structures are constructed from mostly local volcanic stone with minimal structural columns and brick walls. This iconic structure makes up part of the Ndere Cultural Centre off the Northern Bypass in Ntinda. This dome-shaped unit is part of a vast landscape belonging to the Ndere Cultural Group.
The waterproofing works were undertaken using the APP Torch On membrane primed with a bituminous coating. The rising damp issues were treated using a combination of Dryzone cream (chemical DPC), Bituminous damp proofing (Insucoat), and Masterseal waterproofing products BASF Masterseal 501WA added to the mortar mix. The stone dome was plastered and later protected with APP Waterproofing Membrane.
All repair mortars and plastered surfaces were treated with BASF Masterseal products.
